ABCey Presents Startup Monday: Rothy’s
Startup Monday is ABCey’s weekly post that showcases some of the best and most innovative startups based in the San Francisco Bay Area! These are often companies that we have our eye on or have worked with in the past. Today, we’d like to highlight the sustainable fashion company, Rothy’s!
Rothy’s
What is it?
You’ve likely seen them plastered across your social media accounts, if not on someone’s feet in San Francisco! Rothy’s is a US fashion startup that manufactures women’s shoes that are machine washable and made out of 100% recycled plastic materials. This makes Rothy’s shoes breathable, moisture-free, and allows them to maintain their shape. Founders Roth Martin and Stephen Hawthornthwaite felt that there was a need in the fashion industry for sustainable shoe wear that was not only fashionable, but also comfortable.
Why We Love It
In addition to their aesthetics, the shoes are highly eco-friendly, and they are created for women on-the-go. As a company comprised of many women and a female CEO, ABCey loves this concept! They claim to be comfy like sneakers- oh, and also? They are really CUTE! We also love that they produce sustainable shoes! With these flats, you can be comfortable, stylish, and help the environment all in one purchase! As of Earth Day, they had already officially repurposed over 10 million bottles!
How it Works?
Visit Rothy’s website, browse through their shoe selection, pick your favorite style and size, and they’ll ship it to you like any other online store! Wear them whenever, wherever. If they get dirty, don’t fret! They’re machine washable so you can clean them with ease. If you get bored of the pair you have, Rothy’s has a system in place where you can wash your pair and send them to Rothy’s recycling facility so they can be reused, and you can buy a new pair that you like!
Now that’s sustainable fashion at its finest!
Have you purchased a pair of Rothy’s? How do you like them? We’d love to hear from you! Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook or Twitter!

It includes ticketing, knowledge management, and self-service powered by artificial intelligence (A.I.). By allowing employees from different departments to communicate on a single platform, this system makes workplace management simpler and more efficient!
Why We Love It?
Spoke uses advanced technology to make work management faster and easier, and at ABCey, we love tech! This system allows companies to focus more on the work that’s important to them. It helps employees get answers quickly, so they can continue doing their jobs well. Not to mention, it’s extremely affordable with prices ranging from as little as $1/month-$3/month, depending on the type of plan you get. Now that’s a steal!

Spoke uses chatbots, which automatically respond to employees’ questions on Slack, email, SMS, and the web, so you don’t have to respond to every single request! Its ticketing system is also organized and easy to use, unlike traditional ticketing systems, giving you everything you need to manage employee requests all in one place. Not only this, but Spoke’s knowledge management base keeps tabs on all sorts of important information, no matter where it came from within the company. Nurx
Nurx, sometimes referred to as the “Uber for birth control,” is a free app for your smartphone device. Essentially, this company is dedicated to eliminating the headache of going to the doctor’s office for birth control. It also means not having to sit uncomfortably in a waiting room, dodging eye contact and hoping you don’t have to make awkward small talk. Hooray!
You simply download the app and provide as much information as you can. You can also chat with a doctor if you have any questions about the contraception! Afterwards, a doctor will review it, and the prescription will be delivered to the customers house, free of charge! If you are uninsured, it’s not a problem! ABCey’s Startup Monday: Brandless
Startup Monday is ABCey’s weekly post that showcases some of the best and most innovative startups based in the San Francisco Bay Area! These are often companies that we have our eye on or have worked with in the past. Today, we’d like to highlight Brandless!
Brandless
Brandless is an e-commerce company founded in San Francisco in 2015 that recently launched in July 2017. This startup focuses on being completely transparent with customers and bringing high quality products and healthy ingredients. They sell a variety of things, ranging from household items to beauty products to food! The best part? Each product is just $3!
It’s simple. With the Brandless label, co-founders Tina Sharkey and Ido Leffler eliminated the “brand tax.” This is the hidden cost of buying from a brand that drives up the prices of products.
Moreover, the product packaging consists of the company logo and descriptors, like kosher, organic, or gluten free. This simplifies the shopping process and provides transparency for the consumer. You also have the option to “B.more” and sign up to be a member, which includes benefits, such as free shipping.
Brandless and Feeding America
Also, when you sign up to “B.more,” Brandless will donate the monetary equivalent of 10 meals to Feeding America. Brandless is partnered with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger relief organization, and with every purchase, a meal will be donated on your behalf to those facing hunger.
Why we love it!
Brandless is very affordable and their products are health-conscious and environmentally friendly! Additionally, the company holds all their products to the highest standards. They also cater to what the community values most in their household items or in their foods. Furthermore, this startup dedicates itself leaving a positive impact on their community and the world.

ABCey’s Startup Monday: Otto
Startup Monday is ABCey’s weekly post that features some of the best and brightest companies in the Bay Area. They are often companies that we have our eye on, or have worked with in the past & would like to share with friends and followers of ABCey Events! Today’s Startup Monday highlights Otto, a technology- based truck that enables self-driving.
About Otto
If you happen to see a commercial truck with no driver, this may be the new startup Otto! This new technology allows drivers to take a break from the road and let the truck do all the driving. Truck drivers now have the ability to eat lunch or even take a nap on long haul drives!
The development of this technology continues to increase as the need for freight steadily rises. With the shortage of truck drivers, this self driving device will help the trucking industry with their deliveries. These deliveries provide events with the necessary goods needed such as chairs and tables. Without this delivery, the event may not go as planned as people would not have anywhere to sit!
Last year, Otto had it’s first successful shipment using the technology of the self-driving truck with delivering 50,000 Budweiser beers and I mean, who doesn’t love beer?
Another great characteristic of Otto, is that they are always looking to enhance their transportation network. The modern technology is advancing at a rapid speed, as they desire to fulfill their mission.
We love that Otto wants to always take new approaches to better the future, just like ABCey Events!

ABCey’s Startup Monday: Zendesk
Startup Monday showcases companies and the Bay Area that we think are awesome! This week we highlight Zendesk, a company that helps other companies understand and aid their customers better!
More Info:
Zendesk was started in a Copenhagen loft by three friends who used an old kitchen door as a desk. They wanted to bring a “bit of zen” to the chaotic world of customer support. And, they wanted to do it with software that was nice to look at and easy to use.
Zendesk helps companies have better communication and relationships with their customers. They also help businesses understand those customers better. Most noteworthy is their support system! The system involves a team of experts that can be reached around the world via email, phone and chat! Another great tool offered is their customer analytics. This allows companies to predict what would help lead to higher customer satisfaction as well evaluate performance.
We love that how they create solid relationships between businesses and their customers, because we love doing the same with our clients!
