Waze has long been one of our favorite navigation apps, providing users with real-time traffic information. For those who don’t already use this amazing service, Waze is the largest community based app that shares real time traffic and gives you “Waze” to avoid traffic. How can people use this new Waze feature?
With Waze’s newly implemented Global Events Partner Program, users can avoid traffic caused by events! However, that’s not all. This can also potentially help out event proffesionals in more ways than you think!
1. For Partners
Partner up with Waze to create a better road. By alerting Waze of your event, you can create better experiences for your guests as well as others! With this app, attendees will know how to get to your event and where to park. In addition, it shows you the best and nearest parking lots and you’ll be alerting non-attending Wazers to stay away from the event venue to create better traffic flow! Apply for the Waze Global Event Partners to prevent traffic for everyone!
2. For Attendees
Don’t get stuck in traffic while you’re going to an event! Download this app to know which alternate route is your best option to avoid road closures, changes, and traffic delays.
How does it give you this information? Since this app is community based, the information is obtained collectively from other users. When users turn on the app, it can detect traffic by calculating how fast people are going and if you’re going slower than normal, then other users will be alerted and rerouted to avoid traffic!
3. For Wazers
Outsmart traffic caused by events! You may not mean to get into it, but sometimes it happens. We know the troubles and want to help you prevent that from happening. 8 Tracks is also an online streaming platform. Users can create a free account and either listen to top tracks or make their own. Each playlist must consist of at least 8 tracks giving this fun app its name.
Unlike the other two apps listed above, Soundcloud caters to lesser known artists. Artists and producers can promote their music on Soundcloud and share it with other users! And, it’s free!

ABCey encourages you to manage your events at the palm of your hands without worry of lost post-it notes or hand written to-do lists!
1. Wunderlist is an online tool and app that allows you to input tasks and to-do lists for yourself and other colleagues. We recently discovered Wunderlist and in our experience, it has shown to simplify the process of planning! It allows you to check mark what is done, know what needs to be done, and also make separate folders to keep everything organized! It’s a great way to jot tasks down while on the go or even help to overview components of an event.
2. BaseCamp is another essential tool for an event planner. Not only does it allow features like Wunderlist, but it also enables you to appoint tasks to fellow colleagues. Communication is made simple with messaging features so you can easily contact your people when important jobs or problems may arise while planning. Communicating with people across country? No problem! BaseCamp even allows the correct time zone to be correlated to fellow business partners. Deadlines will be met accordingly and less stress will dealt with.

There’s no time like the present for you to get your finances in order! Our favorite budgeting app of the moment is the Mint (free on iOS, Android, Amazon, and Windows). Mint helps its users stay organized by collecting all of their financial activity including savings, investments, and spending. You are able to input your financial goals and receive advice specifically tailored to your financial needs (did we mention all of this info comes in a beautiful pie chart?)! Plus a little budgeting can come a long way when getting ready for the holiday season. It’s apps like Mint that ABCey Events can’t wait to try out for our next event!
With the holidays coming up, particularly holiday food, what better way to stay in shape than keeping track of your diet. Our favorite healthy-living app of the week is Fooducate! The way Fooducate (free on iOS and Android) works is that its users can easily scan barcodes and get loads of information on just what exactly they are eating, highlighting things many manufacturers overlook like transfat, excessive sugar, and MSG. Fooducate not only helps users keep track of their diet but also educates them in the process!
3. Yahoo! Weather
When planning an event, particularly an outdoor one, weather can be a tricky element to plan around. With Yahoo! Weather (free on iOS and Andriod), users are able to not only check the weather report (including wind pressure and precipitation, etc), but also are able to do so while enjoying the beautiful backdrop of the corresponding city. And who doesn’t love an app that’s both informative as well as visually striking?
For all the Instagram fans out there, Afterlight takes mobile photography one step further by allowing its users to control an image’s brightness, contrast, and saturation, along with a wide array of fun filters and frames. Afterlight ($0.99 on iOS and Android) also includes one of the best crop tools as well as other basic photo editing features. We definitely can’t wait to try this app out when capturing our upcoming events!
Let’s face it, San Francisco is an expensive city, especially when it comes to finding a place to live. Lovely (free on iOS) provides renters access to great apartment deals while helping users find a place quick and easy with its real-time listings. Lovely keeps users in the know by providing notifications when new listings are available. Trying to move out of your apartment or looking to relocate to a new city? Lovely is your app!
